In the Americas, we offer both paid summer internship programs in the United States and Co-Op intern programs in Canada and Bogota. We have a strong network of graduates who look forward to helping you settle into your role. You'll also have the support of more experienced team members, who are on hand to coach you through your projects.
Our internships are an opportunity to take a test drive before you graduate and see what your future with us could look like. You will be paid for your work and depending on your discipline, you could get a taste of what it's like to work on projects like renewable energy, transport, sustainable cities and much more.

Eligibility
To be considered for an internship opportunity, your application must include a copy of your resume and meet the following criteria:
- Enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in a degree program related to the internship.
Aside from your degree, we look for the following core attributes:

Application process and timeline
We understand that applying for jobs can be a difficult, and, at times, daunting process. We’ve kept our process simple and straightforward so that you can perform at your best, and our Early Careers Team is always on hand to answer questions.
Not all roles have a fixed deadline; some are reviewed on a rolling basis and may close as soon as they're filled. Where a deadline does apply, check the vacancy for details, and apply as early as possible either way.
How to apply for an internship

Online application
All candidates must apply online and complete a job-specific application. We recommend you apply for one role and choose the discipline you are most passionate about. The application form requires you to answer some role specific questions and have a resume prepared.

Testing
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to complete 3 assessments around your behaviors, logical reasoning and critical thinking. We recommend you find a nice quiet place, free from distractions so that you can think about your answers.

Application review
After successfully passing the pre-screen, your resume will undergo a detailed review by the recruiter and hiring manager. We'll also review the answers that you’ve provided to the application form with the hiring teams, to determine who goes through to the final stage of the process.

Interview
Selected candidates will be scheduled for a 90-minute virtual interview. The interview will consist of a case study and competency-based interview with a panel.

Offer

As we work in multidisciplinary offices, there are various roles available dependent on business need in any of our locations. Please use the location filter to see which roles are available and where.
Visit our website and select the relevant degree discipline. This will bring up all relevant vacancies, where you can read our job descriptions and select the vacancy that you are most interested in. At the bottom of the job description page you will find a link to apply to the job.
While you can apply to multiple roles, we recommend limiting your applications to those that closely align with your skills and interests. Submitting a high volume of applications may impact our ability to process each one efficiently.

On our industrial and summer internships you will work alongside our senior professionals on real projects. You would be helping liaise with clients, write reports and visit sites to name just some of the responsibilities. As a valued member of the team, you may be asked to work on any aspect of a project.
Training and professional development of our Interns is very important to us at Arup. There is a comprehensive portfolio of training available to enhance the knowledge, skills and outlook of all staff members. However, most of your learning will be done through on-the-job learning and exposure to real clients from the day you join.
At the end of your placement and pending your eligibility, overall performance, and business needs, you may be considered for a Graduate Programme opportunity. Arup is actively committed to retaining successful interns and will directly provide you with more information on this at the end of your current opportunity.
Applications for our summer internships for roles in the United States are live from October. For Canada and Columbia co-op opportunities, roles open four months prior to that co-op program starting. For example, Canada Winter co-op roles will be open from September for a January start date.
Candidates can disclose any disability or condition they may have on their application form. We will then make any appropriate arrangements for you should you reach a further stage in our recruitment process. The information gathered during the recruitment process is only used to allow for arrangements to be made for the interview and is not considered in any other context of your application.
We welcome applications from students from a wide range of backgrounds. To be eligible for an internship with Arup, you must currently have the legal right to work in the country where you are applying. At this time, Arup does not provide visa sponsorship or support work authorisation applications for internship positions.
