Transport architecture: precinct development
When our architects and planners are working on transport schemes, we increasingly help clients to optimise the economic growth corridors that can develop along the route and around the stations.
We take a ‘place-based approach’ throughout the planning and design phases, looking for opportunities to enhance economic prosperity, strengthen social connectivity, and regenerate urban and rural areas.
Vibrant and active precincts around stations are essential for successful transport hubs. Creating successful station precincts involves maximising modal, place and market value through careful station design, precinct masterplanning and effective delivery.
Other considerations include creating appropriate density and uses around transport interchanges. This means exploring how people will move around and through the station, defining the below and above ground connections between the stations and surrounding development and open spaces.
