Transport and storage of hydrogen and sustainable fuels
Establishing the safe transport and storage of hydrogen or sustainable fuels is essential to connect low-cost supply with demand centres.

With deep technical expertise in pipeline design and geotechnics we help clients to design and develop the necessary infrastructure to realise a scalable hydrogen ecosystem.
Arup has provided technical services for hydrogen transportation pipelines, connecting supply points with industrial clusters, storage facilities, and end-users. We have led the planning and design of maritime infrastructure for export facilities and delivered assessments for jetty modifications and floating vessels for ammonia transportation. Our hydrogen experts have also produced assessments of storage technologies and have developed concept designs for above-ground storage, new storage caverns and the repurposing of existing caverns.
We also work with clients on process safety, covering hazard reviews, risk and compliance consulting for liquid and gaseous hydrogen storage and fuelling, as well as detection and alarm design services.
