Sustainable factories
To address legislative, economic, consumer-driven and ecological obligations, leaders across the manufacturing sector must transition their operations to net zero, incorporate sustainable values, and adopt circular economy principles as soon as possible.
On the brink of this major transformation, and strengthened by Arup’s comprehensive service portfolio and extensive industry experience, we guide sector leaders to a more circular and sustainable model for buildings, operations and business, helping to reduce clients’ environmental footprint, achieve net zero and create value for local communities.
Our ‘green factory’ approach sets out actions spanning across the entire lifecycle of an asset to help achieve a more sustainable and green facility. To help our clients within the industrial and manufacturing sector, we’ve identified a number of key focus areas. This includes efforts from embracing circular economy principles, decarbonisation and using digital tools as an enabler, to creating a healthy environment for people and the surrounding natural landscape. We use an integrated approach to be an experienced, expert sustainable innovation partner, helping companies meet even the most ambitious climate goals.
US food giant PepsiCo turned to Arup to design and develop its largest and most sustainable food production facility in Europe, a 54,700m² plant in Sroda Slaska, Poland.
Working as a trusted advisor, over 100 of Arup’s engineers and experts have provided a range of services, including technical due diligence for site selection, permitting process, full technical design, cost consulting and supporting the overall construction process.
