We provide an integrated approach to airport development—enabling our clients to achieve an appropriate balance between their commercial, operational, social, and environmental objectives. Our work with operators, developers, investors, airlines, and regulators includes the development of both long-term strategic master plans and midterm capital investment plans for both regulated and non-regulated airport assets.
Working in collaboration with our clients’ own teams and key external stakeholders, we bring together an appropriate combination of our own experts and other professionals to suit the particular needs of the airport development.
Airport planning
Airport planning is a chance to define operational, passenger experience, and commercial goals, backed by robust insights into a city, region, or country’s long-term transportation needs. Arup’s approach to aviation planning spans landside to airside operations.
We work at all scales, from smaller regional airports to capital city airport hubs, shaping the strategic direction of airport development through projects, such as the Newark Airport Vision Plan in the US and the Western Sydney Airport Master Plan in Australia. We take proposals from feasibility through to delivering planning and permit applications in line with local approval processes, such as the Luton Airport Expansion and Gatwick Airport Northern Runway projects in the UK.
