John Fagan is Arup’s Global Rail Leader.
With over two decades of expertise in the railway sector, John has played a pivotal role in high-impact projects including the Transpennine Route Upgrade, HS2, and strategic advisory for the Department for Transport’s UK rail reform programme. He has also advised rail operators and owning groups on business planning and operating concession bids in the UK, Australia, Europe and the UAE.
John’s expertise spans operational planning, business case development, feasibility studies, front-end engineering, and technical leadership on complex rail programmes. He also brings extensive experience working with rail industry stakeholders, including government authorities, transport owners and operators.
Prior to his role as the Global Rail Leader, John led Arup’s Transport Market Business for the UK, India, Middle East and Africa.
