Isabel Dedring is the Managing Director for Transport, leading the firm’s global transport business and working with governments, transport authorities and contractors around the world to shape transport systems that support inclusive growth, decarbonisation and long‑term resilience.
With extensive experience across public policy, infrastructure delivery and strategic advisory, Isabel brings a deep understanding of how transport investment, governance and innovation intersect to deliver better outcomes for people and places. At Arup, she plays a central role in setting the direction for the transport portfolio and supporting clients to deliver on their ambitions and challenges as they respond to economic, technological and societal change.
Prior to joining Arup, Isabel held senior leadership roles across transport, including serving as London’s Deputy Mayor for Transport at City Hall and Deputy Chair of Transport for London. In these roles, she was responsible for the development and delivery of major transport policies and investment programmes across London’s £10bn annual transport budget, including leading on the large-scale introduction of low-emission vehicles, delivering a step-change in active travel infrastructure, driving forward new public transport links, and shaping the development of London’s Low Emission Zones and congestion charge.
Isabel is a qualified lawyer and a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers. She is actively engaged in wider industry and policy discussions, contributing her expertise to debates on the future of transport, mobility and cities.
