At Arup, we offer paid co-op positions in Canada and Colombia. You will work closely with teams and contribute to the success of the projects we are working on. We have a strong network of graduates who look forward to helping you settle into your role. You'll also have the support of more experienced team members, who are on hand to coach you through your projects.
Our co-op positions give you the chance to explore what a future with Arup could look like before you graduate. You'll gain valuable real-world experience on projects related to renewable energy, transport, sustainable cities and much more.

Our co-operative education program allows for varied, challenging and rewarding work, designed to provide you with real skills that you can carry forward once complete. What do we look for?
Eligibility
To be considered for a place on a co-operative program, your application must include a copy of your resume and meet the following criteria:
- Enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in a degree related to the role.
- For roles in Canada, we consider students who are available for the full program duration.
- For Colombia, we only consider students enrolled in universities local to our Bogotá office and who are available for a six – month program (pasantías contract).

Application process and timeline
We understand that applying for jobs can be a difficult, and at times, daunting process. We’ve kept our process simple and straight forward so that you can perform at your best, and our Early Careers Team are always on hand to answer questions.
Not all roles have a fixed deadline; some are reviewed on a rolling basis and may close as soon as they're filled. Where a deadline does apply, check the vacancy for details, and apply as early as possible either way.

Online application
All candidates must apply online and complete a job-specific application. We recommend you apply for one role and choose the discipline you are most passionate about. The application form requires you to answer some role specific questions and have a resume prepared.

Testing
Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to complete 3 assessments around your behaviors, logical reasoning and critical thinking. We recommend you find a nice quiet place, free from distractions so that you can think about your answers.

Application review
After successfully passing the pre-screen, your resume will undergo a detailed review by the recruiter and hiring manager. We'll also review the answers that you’ve provided to the application form with the hiring teams, to determine who goes through to the final stage of the process.

Interview
Selected candidates will be scheduled for a 90-minute virtual interview. The interview will consist of a case study and competency-based interview with a panel.

Offer
Candidates who successfully pass the interview stage will receive a verbal offer, followed by written confirmation of their employment terms.

As we work in multidisciplinary offices, there are various roles available dependent on business need in any of our locations. Please use the location filter to see which roles are available and where.
In Canada, we post positions three times per year. We offer 4-month, 8-month, and 12-month opportunities beginning in September, January, and May. We typically recruit for co-op roles four months prior to a programme start date.

In Colombia, we post positions twice a year. We offer 6-month program (pasantía) for 1st Semester (January to July) and 2nd Semester (July to January). Our available roles will be posted on university portals along with our careers page. We typically recruit for these roles four months prior to the program start date.

We know that AI-powered writing assistants can help you improve content and save time, however, during our application process we would kindly ask you to refrain from using these tools. Our application process is designed so we can learn about your interests, background and aspirations – and to do this, we want to hear from you directly in your responses.
On our industrial and summer internships you will work alongside our senior professionals on real projects. You would be helping liaise with clients, write reports and visit sites to name just some of the responsibilities. As a valued member of the team, you may be asked to work on any aspect of a project.
Training and professional development of our Interns is very important to us at Arup. There is a comprehensive portfolio of training available to enhance the knowledge, skills and outlook of all staff members. However, most of your learning will be done through on-the-job learning and exposure to real clients from the day you join.
At the end of your placement and pending your eligibility, overall performance, and business needs, you may be considered for a Graduate Programme opportunity. Arup is actively committed to retaining successful interns and will directly provide you with more information on this at the end of your current opportunity.
