Simon is the office leader for Arup in Winchester and business leader for Arup’s hotels and leisure business across the UK, India, Middle East and Africa.
Simon is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers with over 25 years’ experience. Having been based in South Africa, Mauritius, the Netherlands and the UK during his time with Arup, he brings a wealth of national and international experience to the projects he’s involved in. Passionate about sustainable development and decarbonisation of the built environment.
Simon’s work combines the use of digital tools and engineering expertise to help global hotel chains, NHS trusts, universities and landowners decarbonise their estates at scale, helping them to set and then achieve their decarbonisation goals. Simon also led Arup’s thought leadership whitepaper 'Transforming Existing Hotels to Net Zero', prepared in collaboration with industry partners, which explores the route to net zero for the hotel sector.
Project highlights of Simon’s include the multi award winning Zeita MOCAA, and Radisson Red hotel, both in the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, as well as the Handlebar Café in Winchester, a community led project to create a thriving community hub for local walkers and cyclists.
