Sean works at the nexus of sustainability, decarbonisation, climate resilience, social value and circularity, providing deep expertise in systems innovation to help businesses and governments navigate current and emerging risks that threaten a polycrisis.
Sean engages with thought leaders and key stakeholders to catalyse meaningful action through innovative business models, finance and funding, participatory practices, governance and policy, rapid learning and feedback loops.
Sean leads Arup’s work with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to help secondary cities in the Eastern Partnership countries – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine – transition towards a green economy. Sean is also leading a Green City action plan for European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Vilnius, Lithuania, and supporting another in Istanbul. Sean and his team have delivered climate action plans for the London Boroughs of Lambeth, Waltham Forest and the City of London.
Prior to joining Arup, Sean helped to establish the creation of the Net Zero Cities programme as part of the European Union (EU) mission activating 100+ cities in Europe as part of the ‘Green Deal’ to bring about a radical innovation in citizen activation, procurement, policy and regulation, education, production and supply chains, circularity, finance, business models and governance.
A Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Sean has had an international career spanning 25 years and has lived and worked in Nairobi, Kenya; Accra, Ghana; Lima, Peru; Auckland, New Zealand; London and Milan.
