Paul Coughlan

Paul Coughlan has been Arup Group chief operating officer and chair of our operations executive since April 2019.

A chartered civil engineer who joined Arup in 1997, Paul’s career has encompassed projects across the highways, rail and aviation sectors. Earlier in his career, Paul was a director in Ireland and a group leader in the Netherlands. He was appointed chair of our Europe region in 2014 and Arup Partnerships Council chair in 2018. Paul is a member of the Institution of Engineers of Ireland and a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
