As Arup’s Global Energy Leader, Alan draws together our broad range of capability around the world. Alan oversees, enables, links and transfers our various energy activities to ensure that we remain at the leading edge in our fields of activity, weaving together pragmatic outcomes which are technically, commercially and societally deliverable.

As we transition towards a sustainable, equitable and low carbon future he places great emphasis on the journey or pathway which will deliver desired results, seeing this as a critical component of unlocking the ultimate outcomes. An emphasis on excellence in real world delivery is something which Alan instinctively seeks, based on the lessons learnt from direct EPC delivery experience of major energy assets throughout his career.

Alan is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers in London, Industrial co-Chair of the Energy Research Partnership (ERP) and Advisory Group Member of the Prospering from the Energy Revolution programme. He is a frequent speaker and panellist at industry events, including various World Energy Council events.
